South Texas Ranch

South Texas Ranch

The “centuries old” look of this sprawling 16,000 sf ranch lodge required extensive coordination of design elements, craftsmen and logistics.

A vast collection of antique architectural elements collected from around the world were moved to this 10,000-acre ranch near a remote south Texas town.

An army of skilled craftsmen converged to incorporate architectural artifacts into the design, along with modern comforts.

DETAILS

Special templates and hand installation were required in many cases as the artistry unfolded with successful installation of 300-year-old stone flooring from European cathedrals and monasteries, 16th century French monastery doors, 120-year-old clay roof tiles from a Concord, Massachusetts, insane asylum and reclaimed beams from a barn in Appomattox, Virginia. The architect initially anticipated a three-year project. White Construction Company began work in November 2003, orchestrating seven principal design team members, all working for different firms to ultimately complete the project in just over two years. The owner moved furniture into the residence on January 5, 2006.
